2023 Spring Palmetto Pre-K Jamboree - Rooted in Practice: Back to the Basics

The Palmetto Pre-K Jamboree is a FREE, virtual professional development with top-notch national and state-level presenters. Any and all South Carolina pre-kindergarten teachers, support staff, and administrators are invited to join to help prepare for a fantastic 2023-2024 school year! Attendees will experience an empowering day of learning to support and uplift the community as by helping young children learn and grow. All attendees can qualify for S.C. Department of Social Services Endeavors credit hours. You must use the RESERVATION link button below to share your email address to let us know you would like to attend. On Monday, February 27, information about the exciting day and links to REGISTER for the many different sessions will be emailed to those who have reserved their spot. Jamboree Keynote Presenters

Nina Crews

Nina Crews is a critically acclaimed children’s book author and illustrator. Her first book, One Hot Summer Day, was published in 1995. Daughter of Donald Crews (Freight Train; Truck; Ten Black Dots; Shortcut) and Ann Jonas (Crews) (Round Trip; The Quilt; Splash; Color Dance), she has followed in the “family business” creating picture books for young readers. Known for her distinctive photocollage style, Nina has recently put her camera aside to create digitally rendered and collaged illustrations in her latest projects. 

Michael Levine

“Mr. Michael” Levine is the co-founder of The Learning Groove music and movement company. He also is the music producer of the first four New York Times bestselling “Pete The Cat” books by Eric Litwin and James Dean. He regularly performs “Pete The Cat” stories and Learning Groove songs at concerts, workshops, and keynotes throughout the nation. As a singer-songwriter, he has won many awards and has opened for such acts as Dave Matthews Band, Counting Crows, Live, Joe Walsh, and many more. As a performer for children, he plays guitar and uses the latest technology to demonstrate how interactivity can make reading and music inspiring for kids.

Planning Committee

A planning committee with representatives from the four agencies that provide publicly funded preschool in South Carolina (Department of Education, First Steps 4K, Department of Social Services, and Head Start Collaboration Office) collaborate to plan the day. 

SC Endeavors Information

The SC Endeavors Registry is designed to support early childhood professionals in licensed and state regulated early childhood settings across South Carolina including family-based and center childcare, preschool, Head Start, and Pre-K. To receive SC Endeavors credit for sessions attended, you must register and log in to Jamboree sessions using your specific Zoom link (received in a confirmation email) and log in on your own device. You must attend the session for at least 80% of the session time to receive credit, you need to have your camera on and  audio connection available.
